Artist's Statement

I love the process of making textured artwork. For me, this involves connecting deeply with materials, such as oil and acrylic paint, gel media, pastels, ink, papers, wood, sand, wax, and recycled materials: pages from old books, photographs, letters, cut up paintings.

As I work, I am constantly solving problems with the material to create abstract images balancing color, line and shape. My approach is an intuitive one of trail and error: a kind of spontaneous mediation.
