I love rocks. From a distance or under a microscope. I studied geology at the University of Alaska and took photography courses. The result was a fascination with the view of rocks and minerals through the microscope and the visual and emotional experience I had working on these images.
Although rocks don't always display the best colors in nature (except in gemstones, of course), when you slice them very thin (called a thin section) and then shine different kinds of light through, or at, them under a microscope, the individual minerals display enormous beauty.
My graphic images - available in magnets and cards - are also inspired by earth processes and colors.
