Artist's Statement

Originally from El Salvador, Nelson works full time in the non-profit sector trying to make a better world for the voiceless community. Presently Nelson is working as the Parent Involvement Coordinator at the Riverside Early Head Start Somerville and also works two nights a week as an ELL Counselor at the Somerville Center for Adults Learning Experiences (SCALE)

Nelson is a self taught artist and considers his art work as generalist art. He has taken stained glass classes with artists Daniel Maher, John Santacroce and presently is taking an intensive class with Michel L'Huillier.

Nelson Salazar lives with his partner Laura Brooks in East Somerville.
