Artist's Statement

Gessica Silverman is a mixed media artist working in Somerville, MA. Her work examines communication, interaction, connection, and dialogue using color and form. Working intuitively, she abstractly portrays conversations, interactions, stories, and other scenes that express her experiences in the world.

Gessica's work has been exhibited nationally and has received several awards including Honorable Mention from Dina Deitsch at Danforth Art’s 2013 Annual Juried, Semi Finalist selection by Jen Mergel for Bromfield Gallery SOLO 2012 Competition, as well as Honorable Mention for the prestigious Dana Pond painting award from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her most recent solo show “Here We Go” at Sanford Smith Fine Art was featured in the Berkshire Record (Aug, 2013). Her work has also been featured in several SMFA view book printed publications, as well as Style Boston and Daily Creativity online publications.

Gessica received a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate and a Studio Diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a Certificate in Multimedia Content for the Web from New York University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis.
