Artist's Statement

My work as a visual artist is greatly influenced by my experience as a graphic designer. As a designer, the goal is to use aesthetics to communicate a message. The design emerges through careful consideration of multiple variables, which influence the approach and style of the final solution. Likewise with my art, the approach and style of any piece derives from thoughtful consideration of what I want to communicate and/or express – whether though direct observation or abstraction – and what medium works best to express the idea. As a result, I work in various media and styles, including painting, sculpture, photography, and illustration.
