I work in various media including oil, acrylic, charcoal, oil pastel, and mixed media. My drawings and paintings are the result of many layers of images that are built up, incised through, and scraped away to arrive at the final desired composition. This series of oil pastel paintings was inspired by a recent trip to the Danish island of Bornholm. When I travel, I usually have a small sketchbook ready at hand to capture the colors and textures of a place. Sometimes these small drawings or paintings are finished works and other times they become pieces of a larger composition that I work up later in my studio. |
