Trees relate to the female in the folklore of many cultures, particularly birch trees. Among the first to establish themselves when the glaciers of the last ice age retreated, they came to symbolize renewal and fertility in many cultures. In birches and other trees, I've found images that relate to female sexuality, pregnancy, birth. Also, body shapes and features can be mirrored in trees, and this point emphasizes my realization that trees and bodies come in all shapes and sizes and are to be celebrated.
