I had a 6 year apprenticeship working at a smoke shop, always asking glassblowers how they did what they did. I learned so much from those tutorials. At the end of 2002, I quit my job and drove across the country with a friend to California to spend an intensive month working with Jay Bridgeland Smith at the Fire on the Mountain School of the Glass Arts. And I’ve been practicing ever since. I opened Liquid Solid Studios in 2004 in Somerville, Massachusetts. Liquid Solid started as 2 of us working in one room but has grown to include 3 rooms with 18 artists working both glass and metal. I’ve learn something from every artist who works in my studios and every artists who I’ve crossed paths with over the years. |
