JAYNE D KRAMER

My oil paintings, collages, and photographs are from my extensive travels to all seven continents. I have been an artist and photographer for the past 40 years. My photography started with the first camera given to me as a child, a Kodak Instamatic camera, which took square pictures. While in high school I was enrolled in college level drawing and painting classes at the Maryland Institute of Art, and also received a 35mm Nikon FM camera with manual focus. I have been primarily shooting with Nikon ever since, recently switching to digital photography.

My work is of the world as I see it, whether a landscape, section of a building, or Antarctic ice whose detail becomes an abstract image. For my photography I prefer to shoot in natural light. None of my photo images are manipulated, and most changes are minor such as cropping, resizing, or lightening an area I do not want in shadow. Traveling around the world I sometimes have had to endure extreme physical challenges to put myself into position to get a particular image.

I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Washington University in St Louis, and the degree of Master in Design Studies from Harvard University. I have been training in the martial arts for over 20 years. I work as a Regional Manager in the area of Real Estate for a large telecommunications company, and live in Back Bay Boston with my husband and exotic reptile pets.
